I’ve been marinating on this post for a while in my head. I’ll think about it, put it out of my mind, then think about it some more. Basically, finding balance is difficult, but I think I’m doing ok.
So what am I trying to balance exactly? I’m trying to balance working out and the rest of my world. Attempting to find that balance sometimes causes great anxiety, but I learned a long time ago that an adult time-out or saying no is perfectly acceptable.
A very wise workout buddy of mine one said, “I’m proud to say when am I going to work out and not if I’m going to work out!” Thanks, Vallerie! That has truly stuck with me!
So, with that said, I know I’m going to work out on Sundays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Additional days are a bonus. Mondays and Thursdays sometimes work out for me, but at least I know that I’m getting in 3 days of strenuous activity per week.
Now, what am I trying to balance the rest of the time? Work, family, friends, crafts, holidays, eating right, etc. Again, it’s not easy, but rewarding once you figure out what works for you! What works for me (most of the time) is knowing that it’s ok to take a break or to cut something out if there’s not enough time.
The holidays are a little tougher because I’m trying to be crafting with some of my gift giving this year. That involves time which means that I absolutely have to use that unaccounted for time for good instead of completely lazy. January won’t have me so crazy…..I hope.
Anyway, I’m glad I got this post out. It’s been on my mind for a while. Before I forget, 2014 will bring a few new (sort of) experiences. I’ve said that out loud, and now I’m sharing them (in writing) with you, so I guess that means I have to do them.
- Enjoy yoga
- Try a spin class
- Wear tank tops instead of t-shirts sometimes
Now, those don’t sound like intimidating things. Number 1 will just take going regularly I hope. Number 2 kinda scares me. Number 3 scares me more.
Tomorrow is Friday, y’all!
