It’s been 8 months since I last posted. I had no idea it had been that long. I kind of feel like I’m starting over with blogging. At least I can always come back to it.
I owe this particular post to Andrea/Drieky. Her recent post motivated me, spoke to me and frankly, made me a little teary. Thank you, Sweetie!
Anyway, it’s been a long time. And what the heck do I write about?! I originally created this blog in order to share my fitness journey. Then, it kind of morphed into more than that. In fact, I NEED it to be more than that. I’m not just going through a FITNESS journey. I’m going through a life journey. Fitness for me is going to be a lot more involved than I thought it would be.
I’m sure I’ve shared the before, but I have Hashimoto’s (Hashi’s) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Both of these “things” have the ability to keep me from losing weight AND cause me to gain weight. CURSES!
Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune disease, and there is no cure. Yes, it can go into remission, but there is no cure. Now, it can be managed by meds, diet and natural remedies. I can’t even remember how long ago I was diagnosed, but I DO know that I believed my first endo when he said, “take this pill every day. You’ll be on it for the rest of your life. You’ll be fine.” I didn’t feel fine, so I ditched Endo #1 and went to Endo #2. I’m still with #2, but I suspect I’ll be moving onto another soon.
I messed up by taking #1’s word. You know, he was a doctor. He was smarter than me. He knew what he was talking about. Well, not really. The one thing he didn’t know was ME. Every person that is diagnosed with Hashi’s presents differently and different treatments work for some and not for others. Last year, I really started to do some research. I’m finding out SO MUCH! It’s a lot intimidating. I am determined to learn as much as possible and determine what makes ME feel the best that I can.
So, this is the tip of the iceberg. Expect to hear more. Blogging will help me because it’s an easy record and something I can refer back to.
